Arlington-Va.-based Gannett Inc., publishers of the USA Today and CBS-2 WFMY's parent company, announced yesterday it is asking its 35,000 U.S. employees to take a week off with pay sometime in the first quarter. The furloughs are spread out across all divisions from the print side to the broadcast side. Almost certainly, Channel 2 will be affected.

The ironic part is that WFMY is hiring. Will a hiring freeze now go into effect at the big-2?

E.C. :)

Isn't "a week off with pay" also called vacation?

WFMY is affected; their employees all have to take a week off WITHOUT pay before the end of March.
