First, it was Kent Bates, now the other shoe has dropped...sports director Greg Kerr is out at CBS-2 (WFMY). TMW reported a couple of days ago (via NewsBlues) that the gauntlet would begin to fall over at WFMY this week. Now TMW can confirm (via the N&R) that Kerr will also be gone by month's end.

And you all are talking about it...and responding. Apparently, there seem to be very few WFMY fans out there. The comments on the N&R story (and John Robinson's blog) say it all.

The firing of Kerr is notable, however. This is the second local station in as many months in letting a sports director go.

Dave Goren, former sports director and anchor over at NBC-12 (WXII) was cut loose by the Heart-Argyle owned Channel 12 back in January, right when this blog started. Could this be an open door for him? But then again, would Channel 2 call on Goren?

Seems as though what's left watching locally is 8 and 14.

E.C. :)

Rich Brenner was, after all, the cream of the local sportscasting crop.

I wonder how many WFMY employees could have been saved if they didn't have that disaster of a 60th Anniversary Party?

Never cared for Rich Brenner. I really liked Greg. I hate to see him let go and think WFMY is going to lose lots of viewers soon because of things like the horrible web site (worst design i've seen in years), the unprofessional behavior of people like Tanya Rivera and Frank Mickens, etc. It's always getting worse there sadly.

anonymous says: I will miss Greg Kerr. Sandra Hughes has no credibility after the things she said when obama was elected. hard to see her objectivity now on his decisions. . Love Eric Chilton but he's all they have now. .

Oh please. Sandra was ASKED what she thought well after the results were in. It was a legitimate question that Kent asked her. I appreciated her being up front about it. I think most anyone could appreciate what it might have meant to someone who has been active in the community to have that perspective known. I mean the woman was targeted by death threats for years when she started.

Now, Frank Mickens on the other hand? I am sick to death of his comments on every single story he reads. Be it a chuckle as he mentioned the $7000 house tonight, or shaking his head on another story, etc. It's a constant "judgement" from him that I don't need. The station is turning into a joke.

Greg Kerr has been responsible of things that happened CBS-2, because he was doing his work so bad, also I've heard this man has been involved in different scandals.m10m
