TMW reported two days ago (via NewsBlues) that the gauntlet would begin to fall over at WFMY any day now. Now TMW can confirm (via today's N&R) that evening anchor Kent Bates will soon leave the CBS affiliate after six years.

Bates, in a reported e-mail, says the station declined to renew his contract.

They should have axed Frank Mickens.

And Greg Kerr too.

FMY is really in trouble. BIGTIME. It is incredibly sad to see what has happened to them.

In the 80s no other station could touch them. I remember when they had a 46 SHARE at 6pm.

Gotta love corporate America.

Ditto on Frank Mickens. He seems to inject too much personal opinion far too often for my taste. I don't need to hear his comments on each story he reads. I just don't care for his delivery either.

Does anyone know where Kent Bates landed, or if he did?

Its funny that the only people who read this are actually IN the local media and their comments are completely geared toward pumping their own station. LOL Please stop...its completely "see through" LOLOL

Well this is my first visit. Great stuff over the blog. Illustration has something special and I think we can't avoid this kind of initiative.
