Today is the final edition of the 150-year-old Rocky Mountain News of Denver.The Scripps-published daily threw in the towel in the face of a rocky economic climate and dwindling advertisers, among other reasons. This leaves Denver without one of two major dailies. Scripps also owns the competing Denver Post.
Triad newspaper execs, I have one major message for you...and let it resonate:
WAKE THE $#%&!@ UP!
Because one of your publications may be next. Will it be the N&R? The Enterprise? The W-S Journal?
It is sad that the academic field I worked so hard in school to learn about...is dying. Newspapers are...dying. The Rocky Mountain News...has died today.
