AP reports Gannett will cut over 1,400 staffers, or about 3% of its workforce. It doesn't mention if its newspaper or broadcast division will be affected specifically. Gannett is the parent company of WFMY-CBS 2.
Carol should go to weekdays. Frank is unbearable with the side comments. Or they should try using two anchors like a normal news team. Maybe they'd stop looking so cheap. Having that college girl reporter doesn't help either.
Its funny that the only people who read this are actually IN the local media and their comments are completely geared toward pumping their own station. LOL Please stop...its completely "see through" LOLOL
I agree with the second commenter. Move Carol Andrews to weekdays/nights, and add a new, experienced co-anchor that will actually read the news, not continually pause while trying to ponder up unnecessary commentary to add while in the middle of reading the story or after. Just read the news and move it along.
From the one who brings you other local blogs such as Guilford School Watch and GreensboroMetro, Erik Huey is a local community activist, a local public education and local media analyst and a communications/political strategist residing in south Greensboro.
Huey is a former journalist for the High Point Enterprise and Las Vegas Review-Journal newspapers, a former reporter for various airline business trade publications in Washington, DC, and a one-time Guilford Co. Board of Education candidate in 2008. Huey is also a former high school English teacher. No longer a working journalist/PR man (not by choice), Huey is a member of the Greensboro Planning Board and currently is a reservations sales agent for US Airways.

Before they are gone allow me to acknowledge that Frank Mickens and Carol Andrews are doing a great job.
Carol is great I would agree. She's really gotten back into the groove of things.
Frank needs to go away. He's the reason no one in my family watches WFMY at all anymore when he's on.
